Dear Optimus


I am a qualified accountant living in the UK and working within a small company.  I would like to move to Jersey and continue working within accountancy, however I've heard that there are residential/ licence issues.  Can you explain what these conditions are and whether a move to Jersey in this field in possible?

Optimus replies

There are many opportunities in Jersey for people currently living in the UK, however you are correct that there are certain conditions which must be satisfied before a non-Jersey resident can work here. Anyone who has not been living and working in Jersey for five consecutive years needs a licence. The application for this licence must be made by the company wishing to employ the individual in question. 

 

Companies will apply for a licence for a non-Jersey local if the specific skills and experience required for a particular role cannot be sourced locally.

Optimus replies

We do not charge candidates for our services at any part of the process.  We are happy to simply have an informal chat about general opportunities in the market, give career advice or to actively pursue a suitable role within the financial sector - these services are completely free of charge for the individual.
